Ten people died on Sunday in two Israeli strikes on the heart of Beirut, which notably killed Hezbollah spokesperson Mohammad Afif and four other members of his media team, according to a final report from the Ministry of Health.
“The Israeli enemy's raid on Ras Al-Nabaa in Beirut left seven dead, including a woman, and sixteen injured”the ministry reported Monday. Mohammad Afif was killed in this bombing which took place on Sunday, a security source told Agence France-Presse (AFP), with Hezbollah then announcing his death with four members of its media team.
A member of Hezbollah since the early 1980s, Afif was part of the inner circle of the movement's former leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut on September 27. The Israeli army confirmed on Sunday that it had killed Mohammad Afif, presented as the “head of propaganda” of the pro-Iranian movement.
A second Israeli bombing took place on Sunday evening in the Mar Elias shopping district, leaving three people dead and twenty-nine injured, according to the Ministry of Health. This strike hit an electronics store and a car, a security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP.
