Chad and Russia are intensifying their collaboration for the training of students and professionals. The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of higher education. Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, and Tom Erdimi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training of Chad, initialed the document on Friday, June 21 2024.

This memorandum covers three main areas: the development and implementation of joint programs and projects in the field of training, the exchange of experiences on issues of normative and legal regulation in higher education, and the development of direct partnerships between the universities of the two countries.

This cooperation stems from the recent rapprochement between Chad and Russia, which also includes the security, energy and education sectors. The agreement provides for an increase in the number of scholarships offered by Russia to Chadian students, with particular emphasis on technological and engineering fields.

Programs will also be put in place to enable Chadian executives in priority economic sectors to strengthen their skills in Russian institutions. This memorandum of understanding is expected to pave the way for other agreements between the universities of the two countries, thus promoting a lasting and mutually beneficial partnership.

The two countries have recently intensified cooperation in various areas, including higher education, with plans to collaborate on training students and professionals.
