The French actress, star of the film A Man and a Woman, died at the age of 92 in Paris. Her daughter, Manuella Papatakis, whom she had with director Nikos Papatakis. “With my daughter, Galaad, and my granddaughter, Mila, we have the immense sadness to announce the departure of my mother Anouk Aimée,” she wrote on Instagram.

She was born in 1932 in Paris, she began her career in cinema in the 1940s. In the 1960s, she experienced real success. She will play Claude Lelouch in the film A man and a woman with Jean-Louis Trintignant. A performance that earned him an Oscar nomination. She will also play in front of the camera of Federico Fellini, Jacques Demy, Julien Duvivier and other great directors of the time. She played in 74 productions and won numerous awards. However, she put her career on hold when she met actor Albert Finney, with whom she was married from 1970 to 1978.

Born under the name Françoise Dreyfus, she changed her surname to be called Françoise Durand. She will then take Anouk Aimée as her stage name, a reference to the first character she plays in the film. The House under the sea (1946) by Henri Calef.
