On November 5, the greatest liar in history was re-elected to the White House. And it's factual. Because, in history, no politician, lawyer, or crook of any kind has made so many lies. American presidents, for example, have always stuck to the maxim uttered by President Lincoln in the 19th century: “You can deceive part of the people all the time and all the people part of the time, but you cannot deceive all the people all the time.”

Trump goes beyond this principle by maintaining even his most obvious lies. And this has been the case since he was invested at the top of the state on January 20, 2017. Barely a month later, he completely invented an attack in Sweden that never took place, just to the needs of his demonstration, it was February 20, 2017.

During his presidency, the Washington Postan American daily, counted the total of the president's lies and approximations: a total of 30,573 lies in 4 years of presidency, more than twenty lies per day. A record for fact-chekers of the newspaper. Even the crooks or false prophets of American history have not done this.

Donald Trump is not new to this. Already, in the 1970s, he used lies and denial as a weapon in business and against the legal system. His lawyer at the time, Roy Cohn, worked with McCarthy in the anti-communist struggle. He had a complex personality: he criticized homosexuality even though he himself had relationships with men. In short, Cohn cultivated bad faith and he encouraged Trump to never recognize his defeats or his failures…

This is how the young businessman will operate. He was even one of those who invented confidentiality clauses in sport in the USA with his American football team. He did not want us to know the amounts involved. His legal technique amounts to a lie by omission.

Lying has become a reflex for him. In the debate against Kamala Harris in September 2024, he launched no less than 33 false information. With a pearl, he accuses the immigrants of eating the cats and dogs of the town of Springfield, which is immediately denied by the local authorities. And he continues in the countryside.

This method allows him to drown out his objectives and hide his real targets. But above all, its goal is to destroy the truth so as not to have limits. “He lies without limit“, wrote the New York TimesAmerican reference journal. He lies without limit in order to act without hindrance. He refuses the constraints of reality: neither those of journalists, nor those of scientists, climatologists or doctors during Covid. Americans admire this freedom. And some of us too. However, it drags the world into a reality that is not one at the risk of losing our democracy.
