Gimont Rugby players dream of final stages

The Gimont rugby players spent a lot of energy and made a number of efforts to maintain their position, through a tough fight, last spring. And, since the fall, the time has come for confirmation. Obviously, the group of Adrien Rowling and Julien Briscadieu has taken the pulse of the federal level. The most radical failure undoubtedly remains the performance in Morlàas. For the rest, the services, but also and above all the results are almost above expectations. The defeat at home against the Pau ogre in no way alters this state of affairs, the highlight remaining the victory at Lombez with a benchmark match in terms of commitment and energy.

This observation, rather optimistic, is reinforced by the excellent behavior of the hopeful group and the young shoots who are emerging, sometimes even shaking up the hierarchy and the established order.

If the ranking stopped today, the ESG would see the spring of the final phases, in One and in II. She also has her destiny in her hands: a late match (Nogaro reception now scheduled for Sunday March 16) and 6 receptions for 5 trips. Travel will be in question for the resumption on Sunday January 12 with a short but perilous trip to neighboring Beaumont-de-Lomagne. The Lomagnols in renewed form and former Etoilistes (Benoît Damiot and Emilien Lacome) will not want to give any gifts. This block of 6 meetings promises to be as epic as it is decisive: trip to the land of garlic, reception of Rieumes and the USEP, “chaponnade”, then reception of Léguevin from Bastien Bourdette.

The club and the supporters will no doubt see things more clearly after Valentine's Day, but Etoile intends to take part in the final stages, something unheard of for a very long time at this level of the competition. Enough to whet appetites and redouble efforts on the part of the Gimont players when it is sometimes difficult to take the training bag in the gray and cold of winter.
