The world champion Fem Van Empel won the sixth round of the Cyclocross World Cup for elite women which took place in Gavere in Belgium. The Dutchwoman from Visma Lease a Bike, who had missed the heats in Hulst and Zonhoven, reappeared on the international scene supported by a great condition and immediately left her mark. On a treacherous and muddy terrain, where it was difficult to stay balanced on the bike, Van Empel made the difference right from the start, taking flight towards his seventh victory, second in the World Cup after the triumph in Antwerp. The world champion preceded her compatriots Lucinda Brand and Puck Pieterse.
