According to Anne Hidalgo, a dissolution “just before the Olympics is extremely disturbing”

The socialist mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, considered that deciding to dissolve the Assembly “just before the Olympics” was “extremely disturbing”on the sidelines of the visit to a school in Paris alongside the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, while ensuring that “nothing will come[it] spoil “ the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“I can only be worried” after the result of the far right in the European elections on Sunday, also said the mayor of the capital. “Like all political leaders, I will be on the ground”, she added. The legislative elections in France are “a democratic process which will not disrupt the Olympics”for his part affirmed Thomas Bach.

When asked if she could “welcome the world” with a possible far-right prime minister, Anne Hidalgo responded: “I will welcome the world as Mayor of Paris, with the President of the Republic, the President of the IOC and Tony Estanguet”the head of the Organizing Committee.

“We have already faced adaptations which have been significant, around ten elections since the creation of the candidacy committee, we have always known how to work with public actors, we are in the last phase (…), the main decisions have already all been taken, we are in the operational phase”summarized Mr. Estanguet.
