- Ivanka Trump remains discreet, far from politics because of the children.
- Jared Kushner is focusing his efforts on his fund backed by Gulf investors.
- Don Junior grows in influence, determined to weed out people with questionable loyalties.
- Lara Trump obtains an important political role despite her inexperience, convincing for early voting.
If Donald Trump wins the presidential election on Tuesday, which of his children will have the most influence in the White House? The question is anything but trivial. The New York multi-billionaire has made a habit of placing direct members of his family in key positions. This is the case in politics as in business. With considerable consequences.
The two youngest, Barron (18 years old) and Tiffany (31 years old), are out of the game. Melania Trump’s son is too young, he has just entered university. Marla Maples’ daughter was never in on it. On the other hand, whether it is Ivanka, Don Junior or Eric, Ivana Trump’s three children can have an impact on the future of the United States. See instead.
Ivanka on an island
“Where’s Ivanka?” headlined the “New York Times” on Tuesday. Where is Ivanka? Donald Trump’s darling child was conspicuous by his absence in this presidential campaign. However, the youngest had played a key role at the White House, as the president’s official advisor. Jared Kushner, her husband, also appointed advisor, was entrusted with sensitive issues, notably discussions for the Abraham Accords between Israel and several Arab states.
But now, in 2021, at the end of Donald Trump’s presidential term, this shock couple left Washington to settle with their three children in Florida, near Palm Beach, on an island reserved for the mega-rich. Quiet, then. Away.
Officially, Ivanka said they were retiring from public life to prioritize their three children and preserve family life. Questioned recently, Jared Kushner assured that there was “zero” risk of seeing his wife resurface in the electoral campaign. Ivanka, 43, added in a rare interview that politics is “a blood sport” and you can’t immerse yourself in it half-heartedly.
But there is doubt. Did they choose this “exile” so as not to return to New York where many friends turned their backs on them? Do they distance themselves from the excesses of the patriarch? But perhaps it is more about allowing Jared Kushner to devote himself unhindered to his $3 billion private investment fund… financed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Unmissable Junior Don
He is generally referred to as “Don Junior.” Sometimes even just “Don”. Donald Trump’s eldest son, who bears the same name, has grown in stature in the four years since his father left the White House. At 46, he is described as a champion fundraiser and rock star of the most fanatical Trumpists in the MAGA – “Make America Great Again” movement.
This child of a New York multi-billionaire succeeds in seducing the interior of the country, in particular thanks to his podcast “Rumble” (heck) where this hunting and fishing enthusiast multiplies insolent remarks, fiery speeches, conspiracy theories and harsh criticism of liberal elites. We are far from the haughty elegance of Jared and Ivanka.
Don Junior says he pushed his father to choose James David Vance, a.k.a. J.D. Vance. A friend. The Ohio senator is anything but a moderate. Candidate Trump has made the bet of mobilizing the MAGA people en masse, rather than trying to cajole the centrist electorate. And if he wins, his son Don Junior will have a “right of veto” to exclude from the future government any person with questionable loyalty.
Don Junior, who had five children with his ex-wife Vanessa, got engaged four years ago to Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former anchor on the conservative Fox News channel and staunch supporter of Donald Trump.
Lara, Eric’s wife, at the front
More discreet, Eric Trump also has influence. His wife Lara, 42, mother of his two children, is the rising star of the family. In March, Donald Trump elected her co-chair of the Republican Party. A former student at the International Culinary Center in New York, who then became a television producer, she was suddenly propelled to the head of the conservative political apparatus.
Against all odds, despite her lack of experience, Lara Trump managed to win, raising considerable funds. Even more astonishing, she convinced her father-in-law to encourage early voting – in person or by mail. However, the former president has been insisting for four years that this is a source of electoral fraud. Pragmatic, she seeks victory by all means. Eric and Lara, like Don Junior, identify with the MAGA crowd.
