Kamala Harris’ campaign warned Monday that the final results of the US presidential election will not be known for “several days” and warned Donald Trump’s camp against any attempt to “sow doubt and chaos” on integrity of the election.

The vote takes place on Tuesday throughout the United States, but more than 78 million Americans have voted by mail and in electoral offices in advance, notably in the seven pivotal states which will decide who, of the vice-president Democrat or former Republican president, will sit in the Oval Office on January 20.

“New ballots will continue to be counted several days after the election. This is obviously not a sign of fraud, it’s just the way it works,” Harris-Walz campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon explained during a conference call.

“We think this race is going to be incredibly close, which means we may not know the results of this election for several days,” the official warned.

For each of the seven “swing states” (Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin) Ms. O’Malley Dillon estimated that the final results will be spread from “late night”, between Tuesday and Wednesday, until November 8 or 9 for Nevada and Pennsylvania, the most crucial northeastern state in the presidential election.

The Republican candidate’s camp continues to assert that the Democrats are already engaging in “fraud” and “cheating” in the electoral process in key states, while that of the Democrat fears that Mr. Trump will immediately contest a possible victory of Mrs. Harris and proclaims hers.

“We cannot and will not let Trump denigrate the election or our institutions with his repeated attempts to sow chaos and doubt,” Harris campaign chief adviser Dana Remus also warned.

“Despite all the noise Republicans are making about undermining the election and alleging fraud, it is actually now easier and safer than ever to vote in almost every swing state since reforms “We voted for elections after 2020,” she added, while Mr. Trump never acknowledged his defeat in November 2020 and is facing criminal charges for trying to reverse the results four years ago.
