Fight in a RER: severed hand and blows to the head with an ax

Four people were injured, two of them seriously, with an ax on Monday in a public transport station in the region, we learned from a police source.

Around 8 a.m. local time, in the Ozoir-la-Ferrière station, about thirty kilometers east of Paris, a fight broke out involving several people for a reason still unknown.

According to a police source, the four victims – minors aged 16 and 17 – were attacked on their way to high school. They were transported to hospital for treatment, added this source, specifying that their vital prognosis was not in jeopardy.

One of the victims had his hand cut off and another had his head cut open with an axe, the same source added. Two others were more lightly injured.

The main suspect, aged 16, was arrested at his home and placed in police custody, a police source told AFP. An ax was found and seized during the search.

The fight took place while the train was at the platform. Traffic on this “E” line of the regional express network (RER) was not disrupted, the National Railway Company stressed.

The perpetrators used several bladed weapons: knife, axe, katana and baseball bats.

An investigation has been opened for intentional violence in meetings.
