Lhe death toll from this week’s apocalyptic floods in southeastern Spain reached 158 dead on Thursday evening, as searches continued to find “dozens and dozens of missing people”.

The Valencia club has announced the sad death of one of its former players trained at the club, José Castillejo. The 28-year-old man tragically lost his life in the terrible floods which have been hitting the Valencia region for several days now.

Trained in Valencia’s youth teams, José Castillejo had failed to join the first team but had played in lower divisions and for several surrounding clubs, such as Paterna, Buñol and Vilamarxant.

Players from the Valencia club went to their Mestalla stadium to bring and store food packages and in this way, be able to provide support to the people affected by these floods.

On one of the videos published by the Valencia club on X, we can notably see the Belgian player Maximiliano Caufriez, who arrived at the club a little over a month ago.
