Just three years ago, Nvidia was considered the undisputed leader in PC gaming. Today, the company displays a radically different face, driven by a revolution: artificial intelligence.

Nvidia’s valuation has exploded, and the company’s latest financial results for Q3 2025 chronicle this dramatic transformation.

With total revenue of $35.082 billion in a single quarter, up 94% year-on-year, Nvidia is in excellent financial health.

But what is most striking is the distribution of these revenues: gaming now only represents 9.4% of the total, or $3.279 billion. A huge change when we know that in 2021, this same sector represented 46% of the company’s revenue.

Nvidia: “Our GPUs are too good for the competition”

One detail deserves our attention: with $3.3 billion in gaming revenue, Nvidia achieves almost as much in this “secondary” segment as the entire AMD datacenter division (3.5 billion). The gap is considerable between Nvidia and its competitors.

The data center

Nvidia’s data center division now largely dominates with revenues of $30.771 billion, or 87.7% of total revenue. This dizzying growth (+112% year-on-year) can be explained by the explosion in demand for chips dedicated to AI, particularly for training large language models and generative AI applications.

Despite its declining relative share, the gaming sector is not in difficulty. With growth of 15% year-on-year, it even reached its third best quarter in history. However, the signals are clear: Nvidia has postponed the launch of its RTX 5000 series to 2025, certainly for CES 2025.

Some doubts about the future of gaming

This change is rapid and brutal, we wonder about the future of Nvidia in the gaming sector. Even as the company continues to innovate with technologies like DLSS and ray tracing, and many other technologies, it’s clear that its priorities have changed.

What are the best Nvidia and AMD graphics cards in 2024?

Producing gaming GPUs is probably no longer the company’s top priority. Especially since there are new features expected, in fact Nvidia is reportedly preparing an ARM SoC for PC from 2025. And there is also talk of humanoid robots.
