The presidents of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, and Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, have affirmed their commitment to hastening the reforms necessary for the establishment of the single Eco currency. This declaration was made on Friday in Abidjan at the Presidential Palace, following the first Summit Conference of Heads of State of the Ivory Coast/Ghana Strategic Partnership Agreement.

The two leaders agreed to work closely with other West African countries to strengthen regional economic and financial integration, with the objective of establishing monetary union. The desire to coordinate their economic strategies has been clearly expressed, in particular by stimulating trade liberalization and facilitating cross-border investments.

Alassane Ouattara and Nana Akufo-Addo also highlighted the importance of solidifying regulatory frameworks, thus creating a favorable climate for robust and prosperous economic cooperation. To fight against terrorism, the Ivorian president stressed the need to strengthen collaboration between their defense and security forces, organize joint exercises, and establish joint training programs.
