The Kremlin on Thursday described as “false” the information coming from kyiv and Seoul according to which North Korean soldiers are fighting in Ukraine to lend a hand to the Russian army, in addition to ammunition and missiles coming from Pyongyang, according to the West “This looks like new false information,” said Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov during his daily briefing.

A Ukrainian media outlet claimed last weekend that six North Korean officers had died during a Ukrainian missile attack that occurred a few days earlier near Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine occupied by Moscow.

“A small number of engineering troops”

Andriï Kovalenko, an official of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, clarified on Telegram that the North Korean soldiers engaged in Ukraine “were limited to a small number of engineering troops”. These forces “monitor the use of North Korean munitions by the Russian army,” he added.

North Korea has strengthened its military ties with Moscow in recent months and Russian President Vladimir Putin made a rare visit to Pyongyang in June to sign a mutual defense agreement with Kim Jong Un.
