Benguerir – The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has joined the Top 500 worldwide in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, indicates this higher education establishment in a press release.

“UM6P is thus ranked first university in Morocco and North Africa, strengthening its role in the field of teaching and research on the continent,” specifies the same source.

“This integration into the Top 500 is an important milestone which reflects the mission of the UM6P to promote knowledge, innovation and global impact”, underlines the press release, noting that this internationally renowned ranking recognizes the UM6P, which was inaugurated in 2017, as one of the most successful institutions in the world, in particular for its research impact, its international environment, its level of student supervision and its commitment to industrial innovation.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, it will be recalled, evaluates institutions through a set of performance indicators covering teaching, research, international perspectives and industrial innovation.

The methodology used by Times Higher Education to evaluate universities is based on several key criteria, including the quality of teaching, research, international outreach and industrial innovation.

In this context, UM6P stands out for its efficient learning environment, with a strong presence of doctoral students and a balanced staff-student ratio, elements which play a determining role in the overall evaluation of the university.

Concerning research, the UM6P stands out for the relevance of its scientific productivity, supported by competitive funding and internationally recognized publications.

This impact directly contributes to the recognition of the quality of its research in the ranking.

In addition, the university displays a marked international openness, reinforced by the diversity of its staff and students, as well as its numerous global collaborations.

UM6P’s involvement in industrial innovation, through the patents resulting from its research, constitutes an additional asset which favored its ranking.

It should be remembered that the data used for the Times Higher Education ranking comes from several sources, including institutional data, submitted directly by the UM6P, data from Elsevier, which covers publication metrics, collaborations, patents and the impact of research and surveys, which contribute to teaching and research reputation indicators.

This recognition from Times Higher Education marks a new milestone for UM6P in its quest for academic excellence and its commitment to responding to global challenges, particularly those relating to sustainable development, technological innovation and progress in Africa, concludes the press release.
