The Israeli army said on Sunday, October 6, “encircle” the area of Jabaliya, in the north of the Gaza Strip, in light of intelligence “the presence of terrorists” in the area, where she pointed “Hamas’s efforts to rebuild its operational capabilities.”

Gaza Strip civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal and residents confirmed to Agence France-Presse (AFP) that multiple deadly strikes rocked Jabaliya throughout the night. Seventeen people died, “including nine children”declared Mr. Bassal to AFP. He explained that they were members of one and the same family, the Al-Arabid. “The bombings are very violent, and we don’t know where they come from, we don’t know where to go”explained a nearby resident leaving the area.
Since the start of the war, the Israeli army has targeted Jabaliya and its surroundings several times, fleeing a large number of its inhabitants.
Twenty-six dead after strikes on mosque and school
The Israeli army also said it was extending today’s operation to the Al-Mawasi area, along the coast, in the south of the Gaza Strip, which it describes as safe, which Gazans dispute. “Two humanitarian evacuation routes from the northern Gaza Strip have been reopened: one along the Salah Al-Din road and the other along the Al-Rashid coastal road”she detailed.

At least twenty-six people were killed in this attack on “Ibn Rushd School and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Mosque” welcoming people displaced by the war according to the health ministry of the Gaza Strip, a territory governed by Hamas.
The ongoing war in the Gaza Strip was sparked by the unprecedented Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which left 1,205 people dead, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures, including hostages who died or were killed in captivity in the Gaza Strip. Since then, Israel has vowed to“annihilate” the Palestinian Islamist movement by launching a devastating offensive that is still ongoing in the besieged Palestinian territory.
During the offensive led in response by Israel, at least 41,870 Palestinians were killed in Gaza, the majority civilians, according to figures from the Gaza Strip Ministry of Health deemed reliable by the UN.
