The Gironde department, until now spared the risk of flooding this week, was finally placed on orange alert by Météo France for the weekend of October 19 and 20.

Until now spared by the floods which affected the south-west this week, the Gironde department is finally placed on orange vigilance by the Météo-France website, this Saturday, October 19.
Conversely, while eyes were on the disturbances in Bayonne, the affected sectors in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, but also in the Landes and in the Dordogne, returned to yellow vigilance.

In Gironde, it is precisely the Garonne-Dordogne confluence which is placed on orange alert. “Tidal coefficients reached their maximum on Friday October 18 (112), but will remain high in the morning (111) and afternoon (108) of Saturday October 19”indicates the government website Vigicrues. Consequently: “Significant overflows are expected in the Bordeaux sectors”at high tide of the day.
Several other sectors are, for their part, placed on yellow alert in the region, with risks of “moderate overflows“. This mainly concerns the sections of Aire sur l’Adour, Bec du Gave, Adour-Nive Confluence, Céou, Gironde Estuary, and Isle Aval.
The Gironde prefecture calls on residents to exercise caution when traveling and to follow developments in the situation on the MétéoFrance and Vigicrues website.
