Lhe Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, was re-elected as expected following Thursday’s local elections in Great Britain. The BBC and Sky reported on Saturday, based on preliminary results, that Labor defeated Susan Hall of the Conservative Party to secure a third term as leader of the British capital.

Mr Khan enjoyed a comfortable lead in the polls, but Labor was worried about whether its voters would turn out to vote. This worry turned out to be unnecessary. According to preliminary results, Sadiq Khan maintains a “comfortable” lead. According to the BBC, around 43% of the vote would go to Khan and 33% to Susan Hall.

Mr Khan has been mayor since 2016. He succeeded Boris Johnson, mayor for eight years before becoming Prime Minister.

Labor achieved numerous victories in these local elections. The party notably won the town halls of Liverpool and South Yorkshire. This result is considered an indicator for the next national election.
