On April 22, a Belgian couple living on the island of Tenerife disappeared. Laura’s dismembered body has been found and the trail of an assassination becomes clearer.
This Wednesday, the Spanish National Center for Missing Persons (CNDES) announced that the lifeless body of Laura, the woman, was found by a fisherman. If the search continues to find her husband, Marc, and the criminal theory is favored, those close to the Belgian couple are in shock, report our colleagues at DHNet.
“They had no problem”
Emotions are high after the sad news of the discovery of Laura’s corpse. For a close friend of the couple, the hope of finding Marc alive is slim and questions about the circumstances of the tragedy are increasing. “We are sure that Marc died somewhere in the water. They must have been murdered together”he confides.
For other friends, it’s misunderstanding. “They live here as quiet, reclusive people. They are not involved in drug trafficking. They are not in the criminal world. They had no problems. Nobody understands why this happened to them.”explains one of them.
The Belgian media specifies that Marc and Laura were popular with the neighbors on the Spanish island and were members of the club of Dutch and Flemish residents of Tenerife.
A murder
The macabre discovery was made on the afternoon of April 27. The remains of a woman were seen in the water southeast of Tenerife, but several body parts were missing: both legs and a hand. Traces of blows and a plastic bag tied to the head were noted by Guarda Civil agents.
The first conclusions of the autopsy establish that the victim died violently and that it was a homicide, details the Spanish media. At the time the remains were discovered, the body was in a state of putrefaction, indicating that the death was several days ago. Investigations are continuing to determine the exact circumstances of Laura’s death, which appears to be an assassination.
The husband, Marc, is currently still missing.
