Thick black smoke, visible for miles. This fire is taking place in Sevastopol, Crimea, at an oil depot in the city, which is a key home port for the Russian fleet in the Black Sea.
No injuries
The Russian occupation governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvojayev indicated on Telegram, according to AFP quoted by Le Figaro that a fire is underway in an oil depot in Kazatchia bay (…). According to initial information, it was caused by a drone attack.” He reports that no injuries were reported.
According to him, “the situation is under control” and many firefighters went to the scene. The fire, which rages over approximately 1,000 m², does not threaten civilian infrastructure but burned four oil tanks, according to the public news agency Ria Novosti.
In the aftermath of a massive Russian attack
This fire comes following a series of deadly bombardments by Russia, which indeed fired around twenty missiles against several Ukrainian cities overnight from Thursday to Friday, killing at least 26 people according to a latest report. This is the first attack of its kind in nearly two months.
For its part, Ukraine has indicated that it is preparing to launch a major counter-offensive in the east of the country.
