The President of the Republic will speak for the first time since the fall of his Prime Minister. Emmanuel Macron will speak on Thursday December 5 at 8 p.m., after the adoption of the motion of censure tabled by the NFP against the government of Michel Barnier, Wednesday December 4.
The head of state's entourage did not provide details on when a new Prime Minister would be appointed. The motion of censure tabled by the New Popular Front (NFP) was voted for by 331 deputies, or 43 more than the absolute majority of 288 votes which was required. This vote, which forced the Prime Minister to resign, made Michel Barnier the most short-lived Prime Minister of the Fifth Republic. The second motion, tabled by the National Rally, becomes irrelevant due to the adoption of the first.
Before the vote, Emmanuel Macron said he would not “do not believe in the vote of censorship”pointing a “unbearable cynicism” of the RN if it added its votes to those of the NFP. Michel Barnier had stressed that each MP had “a share of responsibility”hoping that prevail “the best interest of the country”.
