Carole Bourreau is one of the medalists (silver, 20 years) from the communities of Sablé-sur-Sarthe a you Sabolian Country from November 26, 2024.
Originally from Coulaines, she arrived in Sablé in 2003, at the volleyball club, as coach and manager of all the teams.
Agent territorial polyvalent
Within the community of municipalities, she carries out various missions as a territorial agent, in particular managing and running leisure centers, sports tickets, after-school activities and lesson areas. It is also made available to volleyball clubs and the CAF Le Mans branch in Sablé for climbing.
I wanted to be a professional footballer, but my mother refused, so I turned to gymnastics and then, for health reasons, I did swimming. Afterwards, as I was a little bored, I wanted to play handball, but the club closed, so I took volleyball instead.
She assures that these changes in sports have not upset her. “I got into the pool out of obligation, but I love swimming, just as I love volleyball. »
At the national level
She started volleyball at the age of 16 at the Coulaines club, competed and progressed to Nationale 2. “For years, in Coulaines, I was a coach, of young people and adults, and a player. We were playing in National 2 or 3.”
She also took care of training at the departmental volleyball committee, and continued in Le Mans, then at the DYS group (Dangeul, Yvré and Savigné). “I competed until I was 44. »
Priority to volleyball
For a long time, Carole took care of all the teams at the Sablé volleyball club, but this year, she left the boys' team and took care of the “Leisure” group instead. She also coaches an M15 girls team (with 1 boy) and the 4 M18 girls teams.
This year, as I am injured, it is a colleague who coaches, there are three of us who take care of the training.
During the day, she works for the community and in the evenings and weekends, she plays volleyball and climbing where she also coaches. “If I can, I also manage them when they have competitions on the weekend, but the priority is volleyball and they know that I can't be everywhere. »
Several diplomas in sport
“I love playing all sports. I have a BP Geps, outdoor sports specialty (APPN) including canoeing, archery, mountain biking and climbing. »
She holds two climbing diplomas, the SAE diploma, for framing indoors, and the SAUE diploma, for framing on exterior walls and in the great outdoors. “They are two different diplomas, for two completely different practices. »
Coming from a family of athletes
“My father was a football player for 45 years and my mother was a basketball player. » Carole also has a big sister who is also a gymnast and volleyball player and a footballer brother.
I did gymnastics like my sister and I was supposed to join the gym pole at Le Mans, but I had to stop because of back problems.
A passion for the great outdoors
Sport and nature are an integral part of family culture, whether at the sea (a little) or in the mountains (a lot). “I mainly did alpine skiing and ski touring which I love, off-piste, while being well supervised, not doing anything. I love jumping rock bars, it's fun! “.
She also did paragliding. “My favorite sport was canyoning, I love outdoor sports. »
Camping sauvage
For many years she went wild camping. “Unfortunately, we can’t do it anymore. We made our showers, our toilets, lots of things, we were taught to fend for ourselves, to make lots of things with what we had on hand. It was great, but now it's complicated with all the rules, there's not much we can do. »
It is this passion that she wanted to pass on to an era. “I tried to organize stays, going away for three days with a backpack, going for a short hike, sleeping under the stars or finding places to sleep with locals in small groups, when I worked in animation for the FAL before arriving in Sable. That was my vacation in fact, stays or camps with children and also with disabled people. »
Carole Bourreau has practiced other team sports and also likes the “new sports”, “all the balls”, but there is one that she will never practice, and that is bungee jumping upside down. .
“It's not jumping, but you don't know how the heart will react, I like to control everything I do. »
