The US branch of the automotive manufacturer Kia has recalled more than 80,000 vehicles due to problems related to the use of safety belts and inflatable cushions.
The problem is caused by a thread located under the passenger seat at the front of the vehicle, reported the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The adjustment of the seat, which slides from the front back, damaging the cable, thus preventing the deployment of the inflatable cushions and harming the functioning of the pretender of the safety belt.
The damaged wiring can also lead to the involuntary deployment of the lateral inflatable cushions.
The targeted cars are the 2023-2025 electric kia niro, its hybrid version and the rechargeable hybrid.
-Recall that the second generation Kia Soul was recalling in Canada last December because of a braking problem.
Nearly 60,000 vehicles were affected.
