After many months of teasing, the studio MAP has finally revealed the release window for LAZARUSthe anime we’re most looking forward to in 2025.
Lazarus, the most exciting animated series of the year 2025?
While fans of Japanese animation discover a new episode of Sakamoto Days from the TMS Entertainment studio, competitor MAPPA is in the news with Zenshua friendly isekai. However, it is doubtful that the series has the potential to be among the most memorable of the year. Especially since the Japanese studio has a busy schedule to say the least for the rest of 2025, including season 2 of Dorohedoro as well as the long-awaited film Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arcwhich will adapt one of the fan-favorite story arcs of the eponymous manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto.
Chez Hitek, the anime that we want the most is obviously Lazarusthe new animated series from legendary director Shin’ichirō Watanabeto whom we owe, among other cult series Cowboy Bebop et Samurai Champloo. Co-produced by MAPPA and Adult Swim, the series immerses us in the world of the year 2052 : diseases have been eradicated thanks to a revolutionary and miraculous drug. Everything is going well until the day the genius behind this medical revolution reveals that everyone who ingested it will die within three years. A group of five highly trained agents try to find the mad scientist and find a vaccine.
The series, which has benefited from the support of many Hollywood figures, including director Chad Stahelski (John Wick) for the choreography of action scenes, there is finally a release window. Indeed, MAPPA revealed in a new poster that Lazarus will be launched in April 2025. Excellent news for fans of Japanese animation, Science Fiction and action scenes. We also recall that Shin’ichirō Watanabe explained a few weeks ago that all his animated series take place in the same narrative universe. In other words, Lazarus belongs to the same world as Samurai Champloo et Cowboy Bebop.
