Defeat is never desired and does not please anyone. Even less when she arrives home. Brive hoped to gain confidence with the arrival of Nevers but unfortunately, the opposite happened. Obviously, the post-match speeches do not exude serenity.
The first block of 2025 is short but promised to be tricky for Brive. This is confirmed. To start, Brive took a slap at Dax, like last season. When Nevers came, the CAB has no choice but to win and if possible in the manner. Brive is on a big run at home, having not experienced defeat since last season and the arrival of… Nevers.
From the start of the match, Brive created a huge opportunity but the action ended very badly. On the other side, we are efficient and we make a presence in the opposing camp to score a try and lead 0-10. The Brivists are clumsy and clearly lacking in confidence. In ten minutes, Matias Moroni scored twice and here is Brive leading 14-10 at the break. Not very brilliant in terms of the game but the scoreboard is in favor of the Brive players.
Brive will score a third try and lead 19 to 10. But Nevers is not given up and feels that something is possible. A 2nd try scored and the visitors are back at 2 points. The CAB is struggling to make up the gap and is under threat from visitors who believe in it more and more, especially when Brive finds itself outnumbered. Nevers goes ahead but 3 minutes from the end, Curwin Bosch puts his team back in front. Except that Brive does not manage the last minutes at all and will concede the victory penalty in stoppage time. Nevers does it again from last season and regains confidence after a failed start to the season. For Brive, the start of a crisis is emerging.
Simon-Pierre Chauvac struggles to find the words to explain the defeat. Nevers showed more desire and Brive had several flaws. From now on, it is now that we will judge whether this team has the mentality to assume its status.
When hot, there isn't much to say. They showed more desire than us. We make a lot of mistakes. We manage to catch up but that is not enough. We can't make it happen. The score is there and we can't say anything more. We lost at home, we have to raise our heads and not lower them on the contrary. This is when we will see if the group is solid. We will have to focus on ourselves, on the squad and give everything. There is a bit of everything, a mixture of anger and disappointment. Disappointed with the match we gave, disappointed for the supporters.
Curwin Bosch wants to try to come out positive from this defeat. The opener also wants the group to remain united because this will be the only method to get out of this.
I think the boys are affected. I don't think we've ever been on the field to lose a game. We must stick together more than ever. Despite the result, there were some positives in this match. We need to fix some things. Now it is important for us to stay united as a team.

Pierre-Henry Broncan takes responsibility for the defeat. The team sinned on several points which prevented it from winning.
It's a big disappointment. We were warned since they beat us last season. We weren't able to beat them tonight. We don't kill the match, we don't get off to a good start. We manage to move to 19-10 after a 19-0 in Nevers. The end of the match is messy. I take full responsibility for the defeat. We did not prepare well for this match. We must not be training well enough to beat this Nevers team. I am very disappointed for all the people who support the club. If there's anyone to blame tonight, it's me. We were very bad at attack-defense transitions. We currently have a lot of leaders who are not on the ground.
Jérôme Thion makes the same observation as everyone else. Brive disappoints and does not meet expectations at this stage of the season.
Nevers has been doing better in recent weeks even if there is still a long way to go to find a place more in line with past seasons. Nevers becomes the beast of the CAB with a fourth victory in a row. Xavier Péméja's men played their game and managed to thwart the Brive players. The coach is proud of his squad who had the Agen reception in their sights more than this trip to Brive. This is a victory and confidence obtained which will be good for the rest of the season.
Brive was expected to turn the corner after its defeat at Dax. He is now even more expected when he enters the Oyonnax pitch next Thursday. Faced with Nevers who had not put all their eggs in one basket to come to Brive, there was a great opportunity to seize to obtain a first victory in 2025 and to be forgiven for the non-match of the previous week. Unfortunately, the team was messy, failing to put a game together and being moved by a Nevers team who had nothing to lose. The crisis is there in Brive and in the event of a bad result in Oyonnax (currently in very good shape with 4 victories in a row), it will worsen and who knows what will happen during the break week.
