Since January 7, 2025, “The Island” has returned to M6 for a fifth season called “L’Île du bagne”. An evocative title which translates rather well the new and risky adventures to which the ten personalities who have agreed to take up the challenge of survival are exposed. Since the broadcast of the first episode of “The Island”, viewers have discovered the adventures of the exiled life of Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut, Delphine Wespiser, Daniela Capone, Carine Galli, Julien Cohen, Sydney Govou, Lucie Bertaud, Pierre -Ambroise Bosse, Terence Telle and Patrick Puydebat. Guided by survival expert Loury Lag, who succeeds Mike Horn, the candidates must not only survive in a hostile environment, but also reach an extradition zone in ten days! Furthermore, where the adventurers of “Koh-Lanta” are accompanied by professional cameramen, those of “The Island” are responsible for filming themselves so as not to miss anything of this crazy and difficult adventure on the island of Ko Tarutao , in the southwest of Thailand, where the heat can become stifling, in addition to wild animals roaming around. “This start of The Island is a disaster”
Since the start of this new season of “The Island”, the camp has suffered many hard blows in a very short time. Indeed, in just two days in a hostile environment, two celebrities were forced to give up. First Carine Galli, after a triple ankle fracture. Then Patrick Puydebat, violently stung by a stingray. This Tuesday, January 14, in the new episode, another hard blow: this time it was Terence Telle who injured his toe and who was therefore exfiltrated from the camp by the adventure doctor. And that was just the start of a very bad day. While Delphine Wespiser and Lucie Bertaud spent hours trying to make a fire in vain, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse and Sydney Govou went on an expedition into the jungle to find a water point. A particularly grueling journey of more than two hours, to the point that the two athletes collapsed while walking, forced to take a break because they were dizzy. When they finally managed to find water, it was… brown. Never mind, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse and Sydney Govou filled a few water bottles in the hope of filtering the water thanks to the fire at the camp. Downside: when they found the others, they quickly understood that there was still no fire. No drinking water for adventurers.
The day after this dark day, the adventurers planned to return together to the jungle in order to find a drinking water point and advance towards their extradition zone. But there was no question for Loury Lag of letting them undertake such an expedition. A rare occurrence in “The Island”, the explorer arrived at the camp to supervise the celebrities, even accompanying them during the expedition into the jungle. “It’s a lot of noise but I don’t have the impression that they are really in danger,” he declared to the camera, looking blasé.
Same story on uncompromising. For many, the celebrities who participate in this new season of “The Island” are not up to the challenge, and would not have prepared themselves enough to live in such conditions. Moreover, a large part of X users are calling on M6 to review the show’s formula, in particular by focusing on anonymous people rather than stars, as in “Koh-Lanta”…
