“There is a form of backtracking on the part of the Prime Minister”regretted Pierre Jouvet, MEP and secretary general of the Socialist Party, on franceinfo Monday January 13. A little earlier in the evening and on the eve of the Prime Minister’s general policy declaration, the First Secretary of the PS Olivier Faure, and the heads of socialist deputies and senators, Boris Vallaud and Patrick Kanner, were received by François Bayrou in Matignon.

“The progress is not going in the right direction since we still have no guarantees on the suspension of the pension reform which we have been asking for several weeks now and on which we have had some openings in recent days”notes the secretary general of the PS. “There is no suspension, there is no freezing of this pension reform, and there is no significant improvement in the budget which is proposed compared to the budget which was that of Michel Barnier and who was censored in December”denounces Pierre Jouvet after this PS meeting in Matignon.

The Prime Minister is still trying to obtain an agreement so as not to see his government be censored, but “as I speak to you, there is no non-censorship agreement”assures the general secretary of the PS who warns: without “balanced budget”sans “redistribution which allows strengthened public services” et “to improve people’s lives”sans “these advances”the PS will vote to censure the government “since the same causes of the Barnier budget will produce the same effects.” To avoid censorship, Pierre Jouvet calls “the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic to take their responsibilities and to finally learn to make concessions and compromise.”
