The department of Moselle was placed in yellow alert for a cold peak from Monday January 13 to Wednesday January 15, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. During this period, the temperatures felt will remain freezing, with negative values and days not exceeding 0 degrees.
The night from Monday 13 to Sunday 14 January will be the coldest with temperatures potentially dropping to -8 degrees in places, for a felt up to -10 degrees.
Cold waves particularly threaten people who are fragile, isolated, poorly housed or exposed to the cold in their professional activity. To protect others and yourself, the Moselle prefecture recommends:
- avoid prolonged exposure to cold and wind, avoid going out in the evening and at night
- to protect you from drafts and sudden thermal shocks
- to dress warmly, in several layers of clothing, with an outer layer impervious to wind and water, to cover your head and hands, to not keep damp clothes
- eat properly and have a hot drink, not an alcoholic drink
- to pay attention to the means used to heat yourself (additional heaters must not be used continuously), not to block the air inlets in your home
- to ventilate your home for a few minutes, even in winter
- if you have to take the road, to find out about the state of the roads
- If you notice a homeless person or in difficulty on the street, contact “115”
THE Motorists are also called upon to be vigilant on the roads. To find out more about the regulations, see our article: 10 things to know to drive safely this winter by clicking here.
