Oh how expected it was, Monday night’s episode of Indefensible. TVA’s daily newspaper with a legal flavor left us stranded, just before the holiday break, in a situation of extreme panic while my special constable Marc Fichaud – played brilliantly by Hugo Dubé at the top of his art – farted the pellets and fired in the middle of the courtroom during the trial of Jeffrey Blondin.
We knew that Léo MacDonald (Sébastien Delorme) and Danielle Alain (Maxim Roy) were kept captive by the former police officer devastated by the death of his friend and we were very afraid of what could happen to them during the restart episode.
And for the occasion, we were treated to a one-hour special that kept us in suspense from start to finish. And if we feared the worst for Léo and Maître Alain, it was rather another main character who ended the episode in a particularly delicate situation.
The good Maxime Dubois intervened as an improvised negotiator to try to save his best chum Léo and talking to Marc Fichaud between former police officers who have already lost a partner.
The strategy seemed to have worked, but in the very last moments of the episode, Léo took his courage in both hands and rushed towards the shooter to try to subdue him. In the fall, the special constable fired, hitting Maxime in the stomach.
The episode ended with Maxime Dubois on the ground and Léo shouting “Max! », suggesting that this could be the end of the character played masterfully by the excellent Mathieu Baron.
But…in the trailer for Tuesday’s episode which was broadcast during the credits, we see Maxime Dubois in good shape, standing as if nothing had happened in André Lapointe’s office. Let’s just say that the suspense didn’t last very long to find out if the former police officer’s life was in danger.
Of course, the police would never have let Maxime enter the room where the hostage taking took place without a bulletproof vest. But as the episode ended in such a dramatic way, leaving the viewer in the lurch, we say to ourselves that it wouldn’t have been so difficult to choose scenes where we don’t see Maxime Dubois for the preview from Tuesday’s episode.
On social media, many Internet users pointed out this error. Here are some comments posted on this subject:
But much more than this error, we will especially remember the intensity of this first episode of 2025 and the play of the actors who delivered a fairly exceptional performance. This is especially the case of Hugo Dubé who was striking in his role as a guard who has completely lost confidence in the justice system.
Here’s what netizens had to say about his performance:
