HBO is currently home to the best series of the moment. However, after only one season, the channel has just canceled this popular series.
HBO: series galore
Over time, HBO has established itself as a prolific company in terms of television series. The channel has offered some of the best series of all time like Game of Thrones, Les Sopranos or even The Wire. More recently, we can also cite other successful series such as Chernobyl, True Detective or even Euphoria, all of which are critical and popular triumphs. And just last year, The Penguin, House of Dragons et Dune : Prophecy were hits for HBO.
In 2024, HBO also presented the series The Franchise. Produced by Jon Brown and Armando Iannucci, this series tells the daily life of a technical team making a superhero film. An environment in which chaos reigns and where each failure hides an original anecdote. Comedy series, the show, led by Himesh Patelwas met with generally positive reviews. Unfortunately, despite this positive feedback, HBO has decided to cancel The Franchise after just one season.
Why this cancellation?
HBO made a statement to Deadline to announce the news. The channel will not renew the series The Franchise. In any case, this is what the HBO spokesperson explained:
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the extremely talented team behind The Franchise, especially Sam Mendes, Jon Brown, Armando Iannucci, and this hilarious ensemble of actors. Although we will not be renewing the series for a 2nd season, we look forward to collaborating with them again in the future.
The reason for this cancellation would be the low audiences generated by the show. The decision came shortly after the airing of the final episode of season 1 of The Franchisereleased last November. And you, what did you think of this series? Would you like to see a second season?
