The long-awaited moment has finally arrived! If many characters of Virgin River attracted the sympathy of fans, the latter’s hearts beat mainly for the romance between Mel and Jack. From the start of the series, the two heroes fascinate viewers because their love story experiences various twists and turns. Seeing them madly in love with each other feels good and Netflix subscribers are therefore enjoying season 6 of the fiction. Indeed, this unprecedented salvo revolves around the marriage of Mel and Jack, which occurs in the last two episodes. Just before the terrible finale which concerns Charmaine. And if you thought it would be a small wedding, you were wrong. Just like Alexandra Breckenridge, the interpreter of Mel. “It’s a huge wedding. To be honest, I was surprised because I thought it would be quite small and intimate on the banks of a river somewhere“, confided the actress to USA Today.

The filming of Mel and Jack’s wedding in season 6 of Virgin River lasted 16 days in the cold of Vancouver

If Netflix subscribers witnessed a beautiful wedding in season 6 of Virgin Riverhowever, filming these scenes was not easy for the actors, far from it. During an interview given to LA Times, Patrick Sean Smith, the showrunner of the series, revealed that the two wedding episodes were filmed over 16 days about an hour from Vancouver. A long time for the actors who had to wear the same, not very warm clothes for these scenes. Annette O’Toole, the interpreter of Hope, explained to USA Today why filming these sequences was complicated. “The wedding was very difficult because it took place over a long period of time and at a venue we had never used before. It’s been difficult to get people to come every day and dress them in wedding attire most of the time.s”, she began to reveal. If the actress had the opportunity to wear a suit with long pants, others, in particular the “bridesmaids in their cute and very, very light little dresses“, were not so lucky.

Virgin River season 6: why Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel) “shocked the actors” during the filming of the wedding scenes

The hardest part of filming in Vancouver is that we’re on location all day and we never get back into our trailers. Or very rarely. Working in this climate makes you very tired when you are outside all day“, added Annette O’Toole. In order not to be frozen with her sublime wedding dress, Alexandra Breckenridge used a rather clever stratagem. The actress revealed to LA Times that for filming the wedding scenes she wore wool leggings under her wedding dress to give the illusion of skin, as she battled the low temperatures. “When I occasionally took off my dress on set, I had these things [les leggings] ridiculous on me. It looked like I was naked, but I wasn’t. I only wore that and I walked around in Uggs. People looked at me and were shocked because they thought I was walking around naked.”said the actress with humor.
