The singer-songwriter from Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux, Yoann Guay, was selected among the 18 potential candidates who could be part of the Star Académie 2025 adventure. The popular television show will be broadcast this winter on the TVA waves.
At the end of the first musical event on Sunday evening, only 14 of them will be selected to go to the Academy. The first show, hosted by Jean-Philippe Dion, will take place on January 19 at 7 p.m. The artists will try to demonstrate all their talent in order to carve out a place in the official competition.
Aged 24, Yoann Guay, who now lives in Trois-Pistoles, is a high school mathematics and English as a second language teacher. He released an EP of five original songs in English in 2023 in order to experiment with another type of musical composition and learn to get out of his comfort zone.
The Basque musician is no stranger to competitions, having already taken part in The Voice in France, Tremplin de Dégelis, Trois-Pistoles en mots and Cégeps en spectacle in recent years.
This year, the Academy will be directed by Garou and the academicians will have Émily Bégin, Véronic DiCaire and Pierre Lapointe as teachers. From January 13 to 16, special episodes allowing you to discover the different candidates will be broadcast on TVA, at 7:30 p.m.
