Launched on October 11, 2024, the series Dragon Ball DAIMA continues to generate a lot of ink. Its eighth episode – considered the best broadcast to date – is once again in the news with the discovery of this unnoticed detail.
Dragon Ball DAIMA: how Goku beat the Tamagami
A few months after the tragic death of Akira Toriyama, fans of Dragon Ball had two opportunities in October to say goodbye to Son Goku and Vegeta's dad. In fact, the video game Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO and the animated series Dragon Ball DAIMA – the last one the mangaka worked on – were both released on October 11for the 40th anniversary of the first publication of Dragon Ball in the Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Despite a breathtaking artistic direction and a welcome return to basics, the series Dragon Ball DAIMA suffered during his first episodes from rhythm problems. However, episode 8 released on Friday November 29 convinced everyone. Rich in action, it told us about the long-awaited confrontation between Son Goku and the Tamagami possessing the Dragon Ball of the Third Demon Realmand teased the plans of Dr. Arinsu – with the potential return of the most charismatic villain of Dragon Ball Z.
People are trying to debate that Goku didn’t switch to SS2 to beat Tamagami in #DragonBallDaima? Well you lost.

The fight between Goku and the Tamagami was obviously acclaimed by the fans. Transforming into a super saiyan 1 and using kamehameha, Son Goku showed the full extent of his power and dominated his opponent. However, as X user @EmperorBigD points out, Son Goku actually transformed into a Super Saiyan 2 to beat the Tamagami.
A detail that may have escaped the least attentive spectators; Indeed, Dragon Ball often placed emphasis on the transformations of his heroes, notably by making them scream and showing the earth cracking. The transition from SSJ1 to SSJ2 was much more discreet this time.
