This Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Kendji Girac was the guest of Anne-Elizabeth Lemoine on the set of C to you. The singer agreed to discuss his accident which occurred on April 22. How did he manage to overcome this ordeal and return to the forefront so quickly? He answers.

On the night of April 21 to 22, 2024, Kendji Girac experienced one of the episodes the darkest days of his life. Following an argument with his partner Soraya, the singer suffered a serious gunshot wound to the chest. This accident, which could have cost him his life, rushed him to hospital, where he remained between life and death. After months of convalescence and deep work on himself, he decided to turn the page. Kendji faced his demonsnotably problems with drugs and alcohol, which were at the heart of his marital disputes.

Ultimately, the investigation into this tragic episode was closed, allowing the singer to concentrate on his personal and professional reconstruction. With incredible strength, Kendji Girac returned to the studios to record Vivrea reissue of his album in collaboration with Vianney. This Wednesday, December 4, he was on the set of C to you to talk about this impressive resilience.

Resilience driven by love and faith

On set, Kendji shared the keys to his rapid reconstruction: “What I had to do was turn everything off. I turned everything off. I only had the love of my family, of my little girlfrom my wife. I felt the love of the public because I was getting news. But I ignored everything and took only the good ones.” Deeply marked, he also explained the importance of prayer in this process: “I prayed a lot, because I was grateful for God’s love that was able to keep me like this.”

Subsequently, host Anne-Élisabeth Lemoine revealed what had particularly surprised her: the speed with which Kendji has returned to work. Just one week after his release from the hospital, the singer had already completed 80% of the album. “There was an emergency”, he explained. “I wanted to sing and I told Vianney what I felt, what was on my heart. I told him that he shouldn’t stop writing this album.” The artist admitted that this experience of being exposed in his texts had been particularly trying: “I recorded almost all the songs crying, I did them with a heavy heart.” Touching confidences!
