In the 90s, the “Malcolm” series was a real phenomenon. Frankie Muniz, who played the title role, became inseparable from his series “dad,” “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston. The two men are still very close today, years after the series ended.

Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston friends in real life

“I worked with him when I was 11 or 12,” tells Frankie Muniz, aka Malcolm, in the Inside of you podcast.“He really became like a father to me. Today, he is truly a Hollywood legend. He has directed incredible films, remarkable series, and won numerous awards. He is simply exceptional,” adds the former actor.

Although the cult series “Malcolm” ended in 2006, their bond remained intact. “He continues to contact me every two weeks to check on me”, reveals Frankie Muniz. “He's really interested in what I do, comes to my NASCAR races, came to my concerts when I was a musician. Big life change for Frankie Muniz

Frankie Muniz's career has changed dramatically. After being a television star, he is now a professional racing driver, having signed a contract with Reaume Brothers Racing to race full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2025.

Despite this reconversion, Bryan Cranston, who became a super star thanks to the series “Breaking Bad”, remains a constant support. “He was the most incredible person on set”, remembers Frankie Muniz. “He gave 100% every day, was lovely to everyone and never showed any signs of fatigue. I have always used his example as inspiration,” adds the pilot.

Having become the father of a 3-year-old boy, Mauz, Frankie Muniz has a nuanced view of the entertainment industry. “I would never let my child enter this environment”, he confides. “PAlthough my experience was negative – it was 100% positive. But I've seen so many friends go through difficult times”, he continues.

He adds: “It's a generally ugly world. I have never been affected by the rejections, but they are constant”.
