It’s already been 38 years since you and our team have met each other morning after morning. As the end of the year approaches, with its retrospectives of the best moments, we invite you to look back at all the hosts who made their mark on this emblematic morning show, broadcast live from the 9th floor studios!

It was in 1988 that our show went on the air for the first time! In a 1h30 version only, Salut Bonjour quickly became the morning reference for Quebecers.
1. Matthias Rioux and Anne Poliquin (1988-1989)
Did you know that the first animator in the history of Hi Hello was actually a duet? Matthias Rioux and Anne Poliquin co-hosted the first season of our show, live from the ground floor of the current building where, 38 years later, Hi Hello is always turned.
2. Claude Saucier (1989 – 1991)
From the 2nd year of the show, it was the endearing radio host Claude Saucier who took the reins of Hi Hello. With Paul Rivard on sports, Johane Despins on cultural columns and Benoit Johnson on news, the team has been faithful to the morning meeting for more than three years!

3. Guy Mongrain (1991 – 2004)
In 1991, Guy Mongrain took charge of the animation of Hi Helloa role he held brilliantly for 12 years until 2004. At that time, he marked the history of the show by hosting more than 5,000 episodes. Some little-known faces made up his team: Benoit Gagnon, Gino Chouinard and Ève-Marie Lortie.
4. Benoit Gagnon (2004 – 2007)
While he held the position in sport, Benoit Gagnon was officially announced as Guy Mongrain’s successor in the spring. So host of the show Risk factorbroadcast on TVA, he hosted the show from 2004 to 2007, before deciding to turn the page. He explained his departure by exhaustion and his impression of being more suited to evening shifts.

5. Gino Chouinard (2007 – 2024)
Gino Chouinard hosted “Salut Bonjour” weekdays from 2007 to 2024, bringing his warm personality and contagious smile to the show. Over the years, he has created a strong bond with viewers, becoming an emblematic figure of mornings in Quebec. Several companies have even given his name to a range of items! Did you know that there is Gino pizza, Gino sugar pie and even “Gigot Chouinard” sweaters? His expertise and charisma have marked the evolution of the show, making him a must on the Quebec television landscape.
6. Richard Turcotte (2024)
After Gino left to host Salut Bonjour during the week, it was the endearing Richard Turcotte who took the reins of the show for a summer! But it wasn’t the first time he accompanied you through your morning routine. Richard had already been at the helm of the show, in 2009, to replace Pénélope McQuade, victim of a serious road accident. Our “morning man” is now officially stationed in Quebec since September 7!
7. Ève-Marie Lortie (2024 – today!)
Ève-Marie Lortie joined the team of Hi Hello in 2003 as a news presenter, after starting her career at the TVA network in 1996. In September 2012, she became a host of Hello Hello Weekend in Quebec, while occasionally replacing Gino Chouinard during the summer, which made him want to continue in this role.
In November 2023, the official announcement falls: Ève-Marie succeeds Gino at the helm of the show. The emotion was palpable during this revelation, warmly applauded by his colleagues and the technical team.
