A Vauclusian discovered a piece of glass while eating a minced steak.
The meat, frozen, came from the Picard brand.
An investigation has been opened.
A tragedy narrowly avoided? During a dinner, a resident of Vaucluse discovered a piece of glass in a hamburger steak that he had just defrosted. An investigation has since been opened by the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection (DDPP).
“I was coming home from work, I didn't want to cook too much so I said to my wife 'we're going to have a frozen hamburger steak', which I usually save for my two year old son“, told this host to France Blue Vaucluse (new window). From the first bites, he realizes that the meat bought from Picard is crisping under his teeth.

“I thought it was a stone except that when I spit, I realized that I was bleeding,” added the one who, while searching the rest of the meat, discovered a second piece of glass, intact. “What the hell is this actually doing?” asked the Vauclusian. “I had the reflex to spit, but my son… He might as well have swallowed the piece of glass or worse! He wouldn't have said anything to me and kept eating when there was this other piece in the middle.”
The DDPP, to whom he sent a photo of the steak and the batch number, has since opened an investigation. Picard, for his part, contacted the victim who communicated the batch number of the frozen meat.
