Lisa Kudrow reveals she’s rewatching old episodes of “Friends” to keep Matthew Perry’s memory alive. The actor who played Chandler Bing died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54, after drowning in his hot tub. As the investigation into his death draws to a close, we already know that several people are expected to be charged.

“I honestly couldn’t watch them (before) because it’s so embarrassing to watch them yourself. But if I’m doing it for Matthew, then that’s fine,” the actress told The Hollywood Reporter. “And it’s just to celebrate how hilarious he was — and that’s what I want to remember (him) for.”

Lisa Kudrow, 60, who played Phoebe from 1994 to 2004, also says she “laughed out loud” watching her “hilarious” co-stars. “I’m blown away by Courteney Cox. I’m blown away by Jennifer Aniston. Matthew, obviously, is just hilarious. Nobody had that cadence or that comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer is hilarious. Sometimes I even laugh at what I did,” she says.

Kudrow adds that rewatching the episodes brought back fond memories of filming. “We were laughing all day long, in between scenes, because they’re funny people. Especially someone like Matthew, whose goal was, ‘How many laughs can I get in real life every day?’ So we were always laughing so hard, it was until we cried,” she recalls.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter how she hopes everyone remembers Matthew Perry, she responds, “I think the world remembers him the way he wanted to be remembered. I think that’s already the case.”
