Éric Antoine and Juju Fitcats, both present in the 19th season of France has incredible talent on M6, returned to the trouble caused by the arrival of YouTubers on television.
Since returning for a 19th season, France has incredible talent is a success. The audiences remain exceptional for a program of such longevity: more than 3 million people follow the M6 program every Wednesday evening and this rises to more than 4 million when the replay audiences are added. Éric Antoine, one of the members of the program’s jury, and Juju Fitcats who plays the second part of the show spoke, during an interview for Tele-Leisurea complex aspect of the profession: the acceptance of content creators on television. A subject which still creates reluctance and which both have analyzed according to their own experience.
“There are people to convince” : Juju Fitcats (France has incredible talent, it continues) remembers her beginnings on television and the preconceptions she faced
In October 2023, a few months after his victory in the TraitorsJuju Fitcats took her first steps as a host in the second part of the M6 show France has incredible talent. Known for her work on YouTube, her arrival came as a surprise. “I don’t think it seems like a logical transition from YouTube to TV at all” agrees the young woman. “It’s a challenge to make the transition from YouTube to television, becausethere are people to convinceboth those in the community and the spectator: those who appreciate us the least will retort: ‘You’ve never done radio? You didn’t study animation. What are you doing here? This is not your place!’. And I have to succeed in showing them that I am working so that it goes well and that they like it.” explains the one who enjoyed taking on this challenge. Because the path is not easy for content creators in the small screen world. “Unfortunately, a few years ago, a kind of Internet-TV squabble was ragingand some content creators have had bad experiences” recalls Juju Fitcats. But fortunately for her, this first experience, then the following ones, notably during the presentation of the second part of the evening, were crowned with positive feedback.
“There is a little resistance on television today“: Éric Antoine (LFAUIT) analyzes the behavior of former presenters faced with the arrival of new profiles
Like Juju Fitcats, Éric Antoine does not come from the television industry. Before becoming a presenter, and still today, he performs on stage, writes, takes care of other artists… in short, he has another life outside of television. “I only became an animator a few years ago” he emphasizes. “There is a small outcry of the previous generation where the presenters were only presenters: the classic path took them from radio to television, then they exercised their profession between these two media. Today, we have a lot more atypical profiles” he analyzes before adding: “Content creators arriving on television are creating fear among traditional presenters“. For the presenter, their independence, their know-how and their own notoriety confuse those who have only made their way through radio or television. For them, “they skip the steps. This poses a problem for some, but I believe on the contrary that this is what created wealth“. An observation that he concludes by adding with a little smile: “It’s smart of the historic channels to steal YouTube talent!“.
