At once melancholic, beautiful and tender, the wedding scene between Penelope and Colin, to which their interpreters Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton have done wonderful justice, has a wink that true fans will have noticed.

While The Bridgerton Chronicles prances at the top of Netflix’s most viewed fiction, fans were once again able to discover the reorchestrations of pop titles which are one of the charms of historical romance. Colin and Penelope confessed their feelings to each other before kissing on Give me everything Tonight of Pitbull in the passionate carriage sequence, then they made love for the first time, a moment so torrid that the actors broke the sofa, on POV of Ariana Grande in the beautiful and sensual mirror sequence. Fans already had an idea in mind of the song that would be perfect for the “POLIN” wedding, during which Nicola Coughlan gave Luke Newton a nice surprise. And to their great happiness, it is of course Yellow by Coldplay as Colin and Penelope exchange vows. Penelope’s walk down the aisle in this title is a reference to the yellow color of the dresses she wore when she felt invisible. But this choice is also a nod to Luke Newton himself.

As viewers were able to get a glimpse of in season 2, Luke Newton has a nice bit of voice. The actor distinguished himself in musical comedies at the theater and played in The Lodgea Disney series, where he was able to test his singing and dancing skills. And Luke Newton has also reorchestrated well-known songs, the links to which can be found on his YouTube channel. He has signed with Emily Juniper a striking reinterpretation of the song Rewrite the stars originally performed by Zendaya and Zac Efron in the musical film The Greatest Showman. But that’s not the only song he covered. Above all, his fans know that he sang a version of Yellow by Coldplay with Rory Maguire and Jude Obermüller. Hence the hope of many faithful of Bridgerton to see this music used in the “Polin” arc in season 3. And their wishes were more than granted since it is at their wedding that this song resonates.

Bridgerton: Luke Newton is not the only actor in the Netflix series who can sing

Several members of the cast Bridgerton have multiple talents. And Luke Newton is not the only one who knows how to sing so well. The actor had requisitioned his fictional brothers, Jonathan Bailey and Luke Thompson to create a “boysband” and provide voice during breaks on set, and the result is stunning. We can see them singing in chorus below, Can’t help falling in love with you.

The former Duke of Hastings in season 1 of BridgertonRegé-Jean Page, also has a beautiful organ as he proves in the clip Don’t Wait in which he participated with Tun_ya. Like Claudia Jessie, the interpreter of Éloïse who is an accomplished singer with a very beautiful voice that we can discover in the clip The Paideia Movement with the song Holla feat Claudia Jessie, J’n’R & Enz. In another video, Simone Ashley aka Kate Sharma, brilliantly performs the song “Songbird”. During an audition, her fictional husband Anthony, uniquely played by Jonathan Bailey, impresses with his talents in musical theater. No wonder the actor was cast as Prince Fiyero in the film adaptation of the musical Wicked. Is there one thing the Bridgertons aren’t good at?
