The height of self-improvement. In May 2015, M6 launched The Islanda new adventure show hosted by Mike Horn that seemed to want to tread on the toes of Koh-Lanta by showing a group of individuals on a desert island. Except that the concept differs. No prizes to be won, no winners, no eliminations or even events. Only one rule is imposed on the candidates: survive for 28 days. All in complete autonomy. They have to feed themselves and find something to drink on their own and even film themselves, since no production team is present on site to support them. After four seasons, including a celebrity special, The Island was stopped in 2018. But the show is preparing to return to M6 soon.
The Island back on M6 with some changes
During a press conference detailing the programs for the 2024-2025 season, M6 finally formalized the return of the show. Under a new name this time: The Islandbut above all with a new presenter, the survival expert Loury Lag, whom viewers were able to discover in 2018 in the first season of Return to primary instinct on RMC Découverte. As in the last season broadcast on the channel, it is a cast made up of ten personalities who will try the experience “on the desert island of Ko Tarutao, off the coast of Thailand”, specifies a press release. The adventure is, however, shortened by a few days and will only last ten days. It lasted 15 in 2018 and the singer Lââm was also forced to give up after the eighth day. The concept of The Island however remains faithful to that of previous editions. “They will be totally alone… There will be no one other than them to film themselves.”underlines M6.
