“Yellowstone”: Kevin Costner’s reaction to the shock episode broadcast on Sunday

Last Sunday, November 10, “Yellowstone” fans were exultant. After a hiatus of almost two years, the series created by Taylor Sheridan and hosted by Kevin Costner finally returned to Paramount+. The first episode of this second part of season 5 has been posted online. And, to say the least, he left no one indifferent. Including Costner himself, who left “Yellowstone”…

Now, be careful: if you don’t want to learn any major information regarding this sequel to season 5, stop reading there!

We will have warned you… Let’s go!

From the first minutes of this 9th episode, we discover that, as we might have suspected, something bad happened to the character played by Kevin Costner, the patriarch John Dutton.

The man who became governor of Montana is found lifeless in his official mansion. Indeed, John Dutton’s body lies in a pool of blood, in the bathroom of the house, an automatic pistol nearby. The police are looking for suicide. But Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes), the children of the deceased, have big doubts…

Having left the series, Kevin Costner discovered on social networks – where fans express their dissatisfaction – the disastrous fate reserved for his character. The actor did not fail to react: “I’ll be perfectly honest, I didn’t know it was broadcast on Sunday evening!”

And continued: “I saw adverts with my face everywhere and I said to myself: “Hey, it’s funny, I’m not in this season though…” So no, I don’t have it seen.”

“I heard it was suicide,” explains Kevin Costner. So it doesn’t make me want to rush out to see the episode. But hey, the producers are pretty smart. Maybe it’s a false lead, who knows? They are very good. And they will find a solution.”

This is certainly not the ending that the actor had imagined with the producers for John Dutton: “We talked about it a few times… And we weren’t talking about suicide. But afterward, it’s their business…”

Kevin Costner will no doubt be reassured by the revelations made at the end of the episode.
