“Cat’s Eyes” on TF1: the series inspired by the cult cartoon leads audiences for its launch

This Monday, TF1 kicked off “Cat’s Eyes”, the highly anticipated series with Camille Lou, Constance Labbé and Claire Romain.

The trio slipped into the shoes of the Chamade sisters, the famous heroines of the manga created by Tsukasa Hōjō.

5.1 million viewers were there, placing the channel at the top of the evening's audiences.

Cat’s Eyes has finally released its claws! This Monday, TF1 broadcast the series inspired by the cartoon that rocked our childhood. Directed by Alexandre Laurent (The Charity Bazaar, Les Combattantes), the fiction follows the adventures of the three sisters Chamade, Alexia, Tam and Sylia who find themselves in after years of separation. When a work of art that belonged to their father – who disappeared twelve years earlier in the mysterious fire in his gallery – resurfaces, they decide to steal it in the hope of finally understanding what happened to it.

The first episode of the evening attracted 5.1 million curious viewers, placing it well ahead of the audience. The series thus achieves the best launch since HPI with 39% market share for the target of women responsible for purchases under 50 years old and 37% for the public aged 25 to 49 years old. It is also the best historical launch for a series with 49% market share among viewers aged 15 to 24.

I was very curious to find out how we could bring these heroines that I drew a little while ago up to date

Tsukasa Hôjô

If the French public was there, Tsukasa Hôjô was delighted to see his heroines evolve in Paris. “I really liked this initial premise, since it was about telling a new story. I didn't want the series to stick too closely to that of the manga. I simply wanted my work to be freely adapted”confided the creator of the original manga. “I was also very curious to discover how we could bring up to date these heroines that I drew a little while ago now”.

Alongside the three heroines played brilliantly by Camille Lou, Constance Labbé and Claire Romain, we also find MB14, the ex-candidate of “The Voice” who plays the role of Quentin Chapuis, the police officer responsible for arresting the thieves and who does not suspect that among them hides his true love. But also Élodie Fontan, who slips into the skin of a killer, and Gilbert Melki, as a wicked art trafficker. Without forgetting Carole Bouquet, Simon Ehrlacher, Ophélia Kolb and Grégory Fitoussi.
