Alone : Yves Parlier's Vendée Globe as if you were there

Alone takes us to the start of the most famous solo race, the Vendée Globe, in November 2000. This is already the fourth edition of this extraordinary event, but bad weather gets involved and a four-day postponement is decided. No doubt a bad omen for Yves Parlier… Because if he takes control of the race, quickly ahead of his rivals, the Indian Ocean will prove ruthless. Following a storm, the skipper will lose his mast. A hard blow for a man who will refuse all assistance and repair his boat alone to finish the race!

Alone : a particularly difficult shoot for Samuel Le Bihan

This story is indeed that of Yves Parlier. The skipper will have shared this adventure in his book Robinson of the seasthe rights to which were purchased by producer Patrick André. In the company of director Pierre Isoard, he endeavored to stick as closely as possible to the Vendée Globe 2000 experienced by the navigator on his boat. A ship named Aquitaine Innovations, having seen its mast break into several pieces not far from Australia… An engineer by training, Yves Parlier managed to cope with this accident to complete his Vendée Globe in 126 days. A race longer than expected, without assistance and alone, enough to leave traces. To stick to his character, Samuel Le Bihan isolated himself during filming and lost weight gradually, like Yves Parlier during the race. On the airwaves ofEurope 1the star ofAlex Hugo returned to this experience like no other: “It happened during filming. When it started, I had my starting weight. I had to lose at least ten kilos, so it was a race for the gram. (…) Everyone ate and I was with my little containers, very small. I was on 1000 calories a day, to lose ten kilos in almost three weeks. I was completely isolated and exhausted, no one spoke to me because they left me in my room. bubble, since I was in character.”
