Journalist Camille Langlade has been appointed editorial director of BFMTV, succeeding Philippe Corbé, the recently purchased news channel, which has experienced a series of departures, announced on Monday.
Since June 2023, Camille Langlade has been editorial director of the 10 local BFM news channels. Previously, she was head of the political department at BFMTV, after starting her career at Vatican Radio in Rome, and working for Europe 1 and iTélé (now CNews).
“His recognized professionalism, his experience as well as his perfect knowledge of the BFMTV teams will be decisive in leading the channel to great success,” declared the general director of BFMTV Fabien Namias, quoted in a press release.
Launched in 2005 and until then the leading continuous news channel since 2008, BFMTV was overtaken in audience numbers in May, June and September by CNews, in the hands of billionaire Vincent Bolloré.
Billionaire Rodolphe Saadé’s shipowner CMA CGM bought BFM and RMC radio in July.
The staff of these media has been renewed: the former boss of LCI Fabien Namias and the former director of information of Radio France and director of franceinfo Jean-Philippe Baille have just succeeded Marc-Olivier Fogiel, general director of the channel for five years, and to his co-pilot Hervé Béroud, deputy general director for information at RMC BFM. Both had announced their departure in July.
Since October 1, and until May 31, 2025, a “transfer clause” is open, due to the change of ownership: it allows journalists who wish to leave the channel with compensation.
According to the RMC BFM group, around fifteen people from all editorial departments, most of whom have “great seniority”, have already announced that they are taking up this opportunity. This was the case for Philippe Corbé, his deputy Nicolas Marut and Julien Mielcarek, deputy director of digital information at BFM RMC.
“The new management has just arrived and is making its mark. It is part of the continuity” and “if there should be a change” for the grids, “it will be at the start of the next school year in September 2025”, with “the same DNA”, the group chaired by Nicolas de Tavernost told AFP in mid-October.
