This year, we are celebrating the anniversary of the most iconic sitcom: Friends ! Indeed, the cult comedy series broadcast in the 1990s is celebrating its 30th anniversary. This doesn’t make us any younger. But to keep our youth, we can count on McDonald’s is offering a special Happy Meal for the occasion that is sure to delight all fans of the program.
McDonald’s loves collaborations with popular franchises
We will not go over the popularity of McDonald’s throughout the world and which has established itself as THE undisputed fast food chain. The firm continues to attract customers thanks to its new products that it adds to its menu and also thanks to collaborations which she signs with cult franchises that are very popular with the public. This type of operation, the American fast-food giant knows well, is a winning marketing and commercial strategy. We remember that McDo had already proposed collaborations with The Minions, Star Wars or even Pokémon. This time, it’s the turn of a sitcom that left its mark on viewers in the 1990s: Friends.
McDonald’s celebrates 30 years of Friends with this special product
The comedy television series appeared on our screens in 1994. So, this year marks 30 years of the sitcom which unfortunately lost one of its beloved actors, Matthew Perry aka Chandler Bing, who died last October.
To celebrate this 30th anniversary of FriendsMcDonald’s has decided to offer a nice gift to all fans by launching a Happy Meal intended not for children but for adults. For this reason, the American fast-food restaurant markets the Friends Box. Like the famous Happy Meal, this box dedicated to Friends contains a burger to choose from the Big Mac, Royal Deluxe, McChicken or Chicken McNuggets. Add to that some fries, a drink and Monica’s Marinara, an exclusive sauce that directly references Monica Geller played by Courtney Cox.
And who says Happy Meal says toy. Here they are collectible figurines which are proposed. They are bearing the likeness of the characters from the series namely Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Joey and Chandler.
Priced at 9.50 euros, this Friends Box is sure to appeal to nostalgic fans of the sitcom. Unfortunately, the only downside is that this special product is not sold here in France. Indeed, McDonald’s only launched it in its restaurants in Spain.
But it is necessary hope, if the success of this box is there, that the fast-food giant decides to generalize it in all of its restaurants.
