International fly-half Romain Ntamack will be absent three to four weeks due to a torn calf, Stade Toulouse announced on Monday, and could miss at least the first match of the fall tour of the XV of France. In the 39th minute of the match won by Stade Toulouse against Clermont on Saturday (48-14), the Toulouse opener limped away from the game before lying down in his in-goal and holding his back of the right leg.
“He felt something in the calf, but nothing joint or very, very serious a priori”reassured David Mélé, assistant coach of the Rouge et Noir, after the match. Romain Ntamack will nevertheless be sidelined for almost a month, which makes his participation in the first match of the fall tour of the XV of France against Japan, on November 9 at the Stade de France, very hypothetical.
A vacation for Ramos
The opener with 37 selections should therefore be absent from the list of 42 players called by Fabien Galthié, expected next week. But Ntamack could return to the France group for the matches against New Zealand on November 16 and Argentina on November 22, also at the Stade de France.
The Toulouse resident hopes to regain the Blues jersey, which he has not worn since August 12, 2023 against Scotland.
