On October 6, 2024, the flagship presenter of TPMP welcomed a new audience record for his show “Face à Hanouna”. If, as is the case for all C8 programs, it will soon no longer be broadcast on TNT, that does not stop its fans from hanging on.
Heart smileys, stars in the eyes, party favors… a party day for the TPMP presenter. Two consecutive evenings, he congratulated himself on the audience records achieved on C8, several months after Arcom announced the end of its broadcast on TNT, after several condemnations.
Chain records
Resharing a publication from the C8 channel, Cyril Hanouna thanked his fans for having been so numerous to follow him this weekend. Saturday evening, he was moved by the record obtained for the season: “1st talk on the main part and the three parts with the entire public and young people”, explains C8.
And Sunday; same refrain, he once again shared the channel’s record: “Facing Hanouna still on top with a new season record for a Saturday with up to more than 1.2 million viewers“. A godsend for the emblematic presenter of the show.
7.6 million euros fine
And if the figures are good, it will soon be the end of C8 on TNT. Arcom announced at the beginning of the summer its decision to suspend broadcasting of the channel. And despite the appeal of the principal concerned, the Council of State ruled against Touche pas à mon poste, among other programs broadcast on this channel.
NRJ12 and its owner NRJ Group preferred to take the lead, announcing that they had taken the matter to the Council of State to challenge Arcom’s decision.
C8, which has accumulated a fine of 7.6 million euros due to the slippages of its star host Cyril Hanouna, followed suit, citing a situation “particular with regard to the economic, social and competitive issues generated […] for an existing television channel […] for almost 20 years”according to a press release from its owner Canal +, in the fold of conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré via the Vivendi group.
The renewal of frequencies has also stirred up the political sphere. LFI deputy Aurélien Saintoul, rapporteur for a commission of inquiry into TNT, notably deplored in July that Arcom had accepted the candidacy of CNews, accused by many left-wing politicians of promoting far-right ideas, which she disputes.
