Every year, the Brive-la-Gaillarde Book Fair is a popular meeting place for authors and literature lovers… or simply for those who want to see personalities who come to sign their works. On November 8, 2024, the Georges Brassens hall in the sub-prefecture of Corrèze saw the author Amélie Nothomb, the presenter Benjamin Castaldi, the actress Alice Pol and the recent Renaudot prize winner Gaël Faye parade.

The fair was also able to count on the presence of one of the two deputies of the department: François Hollande. The former president published “The Challenge of Governing”, an essay on the actions of different left-wing groups since the end of the 19th century, a book that he was able to dedicate to the many people who came to see him.

She came accompanied by journalist Constance Vergara to sign her new book “It’s for a friend!” » which presents itself as a “Manual for the use of fifty-somethings”.

A reunion… at a distance

Rarely, François Hollande and his ex-partner have been so physically close in public since their turbulent separation in 2014. A brutal breakup that the former journalist had recounted in detail in a book entitled “Thank you for this moment”.

The two ex-spouses remained at a good distance from each other during their respective signing sessions. Incidentally, the former head of state also went to take the break, not on a scooter but on a 2 CV, the era of two-wheelers now seeming to be behind him.
