It’s the new duo that wakes up viewers of 2. Since September 16, Flavie Flament and Julien Arnaud have co-hosted Telematin. The host and the journalist, both aged 50, replace Marie Portolano and Thomas Sotto respectively. The first mentioned, currently on maternity leave for her third child, decided to leave the morning shift, while the second took over the management of RTL.

Thus, France Télévisions has chosen to rely on a completely new pairing. Quickly, Flavie Flament and Julien Arnaud were able to find their automatisms, as the host recounts in an interview given to 7 Days TV : “With Julien, we naturally divided the work. He is of course more focused on information, while I am focused on culture. And I’m preparing the new sequence The question everyone is asking“, confides Flavie Flament. “Generally, Julien arrives a quarter of an hour before me. Our offices are at the top of the France Télévisions building. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The day has not yet dawned. We’re not really awake yet. We see people working, lit by small lamps. We regularly take small coffee breaks. A little before the live broadcast begins, at 6:30 a.m., I stop by to greet him and ask him what he’s going to wear.

We put on the slippers of those who preceded us by doing every other launch. Same for the hello on the air“, continues Flavie Flament, who already seems to have a certain complicity with Julien Arnaud. “If it’s me who launches the first one of the week, Julien will do the one the next day. We alternate. Since we include each other in the presentation, everything flows smoothly. We don’t really sit down and say, “Who says what?” Who does what? » It happens, and then we make adjustments, and that’s it. It’s not more complicated. On the other hand, even if our topic launches are very written, we maintain a lot of spontaneity. Our jokes are not prepared in advance. A little thing that viewers don’t see thanks to the production cutaways: we have a blank sheet of paper between us and, when we want to intervene, we write it down so that the other person sees it. Or we wave at each other.

The duo found their bearings in Telematin

If Flavie Flament confesses to not having been consulted by her management for the choice of the co-presenter of Telematinthe host admits to being delighted to team up with Julien Arnaud. With already a great career behind them, the duo is far from seeking the spotlight at all costs to the detriment of their partner: “We knew each other a little, without ever having worked together. We had seen each other a few months ago and we have a lot of mutual acquaintances, which is already a good indicator. Both of us resolved our ego issues. If I speak, Julien will not be offended. And vice versa.

Flavie Flament’s interview can be read in full in the new magazine Télé 7 Jours. Available on newsstands from this Monday, September 30.
